Three hotel maintenance scenarios: plumbing, air conditioning and electrics
Abstract numbers convince the finance people, but maintenance managers need to see real scenarios. Here we present three common jobs in a hotel and compare, step by step, what happens with screwed panels versus accessible panels with Fastmount invisible clips. Time, staff and cost: the data leave no room for doubt.
01Plumbing leak in the bathroom wall
With screwed panels
The guest reports a damp patch on the bathroom wall at 9:00. The maintenance technician arrives at 9:15 and confirms the leak is behind the decorative panel. He calls the external carpenter, who arrives at 10:30. The carpenter removes the panel —30 minutes, two screws with heads damaged by humidity—. The plumber repairs the leak in 45 minutes. The carpenter refits the panel with new screws, fills the holes and touches up the finish: 1 hour 30 minutes. The room is available again at 14:00. Total time: 5 hours. Cost: plumber + carpenter + touch-up materials, about 280 euros.
With Fastmount clips
The same guest reports the same patch at 9:00. The maintenance technician arrives at 9:15, removes the panel with a suction cup in 15 seconds, finds the leak, repairs it in 45 minutes and refits the panel in 10 seconds. The room is available again at 10:15. Total time: 1 hour. Cost: plumber only, about 60 euros.

| Scenario 1: plumbing | Screws | Fastmount clips |
|---|---|---|
| Total time | 5 hours | 1 hour |
| Staff required | Technician + carpenter + plumber | Technician-plumber |
| Estimated cost | ~280 € | ~60 € |
| Damage to the panel | Yes. Filler + touch-up | None |
02Annual air-conditioning service
With screwed panels
The annual service of the air-conditioning system requires access to the fan coil and ducts in each room. With screwed panels, the air-conditioning technician needs a carpenter to remove and refit the panels covering the ducts. Per room: 20 minutes of removal, 30 minutes of servicing, 25 minutes of refitting and touch-up. Total per room: 1 hour 15 minutes. For a 60-room hotel, 75 hours of work: 37.5 hours of air conditioning plus 37.5 hours of carpentry.
With Fastmount clips
The air-conditioning technician works alone. He removes the necessary panels in seconds, carries out the service in 30 minutes and refits the panels in seconds. Total per room: 35 minutes. For 60 rooms, 35 hours of work. No carpenter. No damage to panels. No touch-up.
“Before installing Fastmount, the annual air-conditioning service took us two weeks with a full-time carpenter. Now we do it in one week with the air-conditioning technician alone. And the panels stay as good as new.”

03Electrical upgrade: USB-C sockets
With screwed panels
The hotel decides to install USB-C sockets in every room. The electrician needs to reach the junction boxes behind the bedside and desk panels. With screws: removal, 15 minutes; electrical work, 40 minutes; refitting and touch-up, 20 minutes. Total per room: 1 hour 15 minutes. For 60 rooms, 75 hours. In addition, the room must stay out of service during the work, for at least half a day.
With Fastmount clips
The electrician removes the panels in seconds, carries out the installation in 40 minutes and refits the panels in seconds. Total per room: 45 minutes. Rooms can be worked on during the morning housekeeping, without affecting availability for sale.
04The accumulated saving over a full year
A 60-80 room hotel records an average of 40-60 jobs a year that require access behind panels. From the three scenarios above, we can estimate that the average saving per job is 2-3 hours of skilled labour and the complete elimination of the cost of auxiliary carpentry.
At an average of 40 euros/hour, the annual labour saving is between 3,200 and 7,200 euros. Adding the saving on touch-up materials —filler, paint, plugs— and the elimination of damaged replacement panels, the total saving can reach 8,000-10,000 euros a year. And that is without counting the value of the recovered room time, which in a high-occupancy establishment weighs as much as the labour bill itself.
05Why the panel becomes accessible
The difference between the three scenarios is not in the repair itself —the leak, the service or the wiring take the same time in both cases—, but in everything surrounding access. Fastmount invisible clips let you fit and remove the panel an unlimited number of times without damage to the panel, the structure or the finish.
Load capacity is not attributed to the panel but to the set of clips: in the Standard range, each clip holds up to 15 kg, and capacity scales with the number of clips (2 clips = 30 kg, 4 clips = 60 kg). Sizing depends on the weight, format and material of each panel, and must be validated with technical advice. What matters for maintenance is that the panel stops being a sealed piece and becomes an accessible one: it comes down, goes back up and is perfect again, as many times as needed.
Optimise your hotel's maintenance
Each technical area has its optimal combination of range and number of clips according to the weight, format and material of the panel. We help you size the exact solution for access in seconds and zero damage.
